Plugs... Yes or No?

I, for one, am glad I had my musician's plugs with me... best $150 I ever spent.

i use just little pieces of tissue paper ball it up and put it in my ear, it works just fine for me,

I cannot even imagine NOT wearing earplugs at a show as loud as ProgPower. A friend of mine once didn't wear them during a Symphony X set, and she was in physical pain and had to leave the venue.

I've worn plugs to any rock concert I've gone to in the last 3 years since someone mentioned those Etymotics on here. It's great not having my ears ring for an entire day afterward. Plus I have issues with my hearing so my chances of loosing it early in life is kind of high.

Truer words have never been spoken. Rich, you advised me to get these my first year, and I have to say these things are the best ProgPower purchase I have made (including the dozens of CD's and t-shirts acquired over the years)

Double QFT. I already blew out my ears back in my twenties being an ignorant fool....not anymore.

Reminder regarding hearing.... once it's gone, it's gone. You can't go to the hospital and get it fixed.

...those etymotics are so comfortable, a couple of times i forgot i still had them in my ears while i was walking around the lobby of the venue...they work great!

I need to find a pair that doesn't remove all the highs from the show. I like the Etymotics, but don't like the way they make the show sound. Every earplug i've tried has had that effect. Plus when you sing along with the band you have to listen to yourself... which trust me, with me is not good. I've only tried to wear them a few times and always ended up taking them out. 25 years, 100+ concerts later, ears are still working just fine.

This, I love being completely oblivious as to how loud and awful I'm singing along, its probably my favorite part of live music.

I have my custom made earplugs I have been using for years at concerts. Never failed me and I can't enjoy the music live even up in front without ending with headaches, tinnitus or deafness.

I got some a couple of fests ago on the recommendation of many on the board - thought i had them in my bag this year - couldn't find them, doh. One of these years I am gonna though, really I am. Need to preserve what I have left after too many years of down in the front concerts -

I don't usually use em... I've already tried out the cheap ones and the music felt "muffled" so I tend not to want to do that. Maybe I should look into the more expensive ones... does it really make a nice diff to wear some good plugs as to the enjoyment of the music?

I really hurt myself sonically at both AC/DC and Van Halen early on in my concert going years. I've worn earplugs ever since. Screw 40! I want to be able to hear music until the day I die!
