Hey guys I just got the pod hd500 about a week ago and this is the first tone test i've done with it. What do you think? It's the recto model.

new version with some lows and low mids cut and a slight mid boost

Here is another updated recto tone. Improvement? I also changed the kick and blended another snare sample with the ezdrummer one.

Here is a new Fireball tone test. This time with the snare and kick drum blended with another sample. I also cut some more low mids from the guitars.

you mean a hp filter? I have one at 60hz and a lp at 12000hz. I guess i'll dial in a different tone and start again. Although I kinda like it like this. Maybe a little less muddy still.

really? Even in really low tunings? I'll try it out thanks for the help.

yep. i dont think ive ever went less than 100 on it. i used that amp on my most recent mix and have the hi pass at 140. cut a couple db at 200 and 400, boosted 1 db at 500. and another small cut at 800. surgical cut around 4k to eliminate the fizz. added the sneap c4 and an L1 and thats all for guitar.

thanks a lot. I'm currently working on another tone. Although this time with the fireball model instead. Still want to eventually get a good recto tone out of the pod as well though.

I like the new recto one best. still has some extra low mids but its sounding better so i would just keep working on that one. cut some 200-250 for the muddiness. and i know the thread is about the guitar tone but the kick drum is thin and snare could use a tiny bit more room.

yeah i'm not a fan of the kick drum sound. It's the stock one in the metalhead expansion for ezdrummer. Usually I replace it with a different sample. Thanks for replying. Still not completely happy with the tone. I personally like the fireball one the best. But i'm going to keep working on both of them.

POD HD... put bass on zero and you still have to use low cut to get a usable tone.... well that's saying too much. You can't get a usable tone out of it simply. I've owned the HD500 and HD300 and I'm soooooo happy I sold them both. They are good midi pedals though.

Are you talking about in ANY circumstance? Because I'm on tour right now running my 500 through recto and 6505 power sections and I've had the clearest tone of anyone on the tour. I've even had compliments from the sound dudes wondering how the fuck a line 6 pedal could be set to sound to convincing and good.

The weakest link in POD HD is the cab modeling. If you use a real power amp and real cab you should be fine. The cabs just simply suck and I really don't understand why it doesn't have custom IRs. If it did it would be the best product out there.
