I do like Countdown, but Youthanasia is better I think! Much better! It's just heavier, more energetic, catchier, not as mechanical, etc.. to me. Dave Mustaine has said "If Youthanasia was released when Countdown was it would've been huge" or something. Last night I had a drunken argument with someone who was saying "Dave Mustaine's such a wanker, trust him to say that" but I'm inclined to agree with Dave I think!

I mean I think the first 6 Megadeth albums are all just absolutely awesome! Countdown is just my least liked out of those 6.

Youthanasia is the most 'mechanical' album I've ever heard!
No variety at all.

Although Reckoning Day and Train Of Consequences rock.

I tend to agree with Troops. I love CTE, but there is just something about it that doesn't appeal to me. Heaps of great material, but doesnt gel as an album for me. I think I prefer Youthanasia.

Youthanasia isn't mechanical at all! It's very live sounding I think. Countdown has typewriter style drum triggers, much more polished production, etc... much more mechanical!

I remember when countdown came out, me and all my mates played it so much that i think we almost wore out the cd!!!
And trashed all our houses from moshing to it so hard!
I think its heaps better than youthanasia
