i don't care what anyone says, when i saw it, my face lit up...
GUNS is one of the greatest rock bands of all and Axl is one of the greatest showmen of all time.
and for not playing for 10 years, i think he still sounded great.. plus they've been doing shows overseas and shit for the last week, so he was probably balls tired.
i'll be first in line for those american tour tickets.

Axl can't sing. It was sad really. It was beyond stage jitters. Appetite will always be one of if not my favorite record ever but that performance was completely horrid.

I am just as big a Guns fan as I am a Thrax fan. The performance was good but his voice seems like it lost all of its power! Did any one esle notice he packed on a few pounds? Though I heard the man is now muscular? Probably noty just a booze gut. I wish him good luck though. He shouls have slash at stage left. But remember there is only one original memeber of thrax left to.

Even though I'm not much of a GNR fan, that certainly makes me kinda sad to hear. However, the biggest reason for that (for all of you who sing will know this) vocal cords are a muscle just like anything else on your body. If the muscle doesn't get used then it will grow weak, there's no way around that. Since GNR has been gone for so long, and limited Axels performances this would be the main cause. But the good news is that if GNR actually gets back in the swing of things and start to perform quite often, he'll get his old swing back! I myself meet my old bands singing teacher back in my Seattle days, and the guy was a Italian opera master/mistro. He told me that singing is a lifetime process, one that never ends and one that can never be fully realized until the end. Axel has a long way to go, but only if GNR can finally pull their heads out of their asses.

augdawg, they've been doing extensive touring. so he's been exercising his vocals. Some people just can't sing live. The people who sound perfect are people like Britney Spears that lip sinc when they're live. also like most of the people on the VMA's last night. I still thought it was great to see "them" back in action. Bucket Head is awesome.
I wasn't bashing Axl. I just feel sorry for him. Notice his face still has it's pristine early 90's look still? And I feel sory for him because he had that done and rarely ever makes press appearances because of it.

On another noteMike Patton has one of the best voices I've ever heard live. I was blessed enough to see Faith No More open for Metallica back on the Justice Tour, and on the GNR/Metallica tour, and even on a smaller club tour. I also saw Mr. Bungle live as well, and that man can sing like a bird. He ranges from opera style, Death metal, and even in different languages(other than english).

I hear you, Gregadeath. The day I watch the VMA is the day Anthrax makes a guest appearance. And we all know how soon that's going to happen.
my fianc is into more of the popular suff. I did like the hives though. and that white stripes video is pretty cool. But the Vma's are never as good as the movie awards.

And it was badass to hear people booing eminem. man that dog puppet thing is funny too. he was all like up beside moby and he was saying "I can't believe eminem said you were a bald twenty six year old" then he went up to eminem and eminem was being a little bitch and tld him to go the fuck away. He can dish shit but he sure as hell can't take it.

I thought Axl always has a "screechy" voice. It was neverstrong vocals more of a cat in a bag like sound. And its been ten years I think most of us have put on a pound or two.
