Since I've been on this forum, I've seen this debate rage about 4 times now. Very odd.

Anyway, we call it soft drink in Australia. Which is probably gayer than pop or soda or sodapop or lolly water or carbonated fruit flavoured drink or well any of them really.

I usually "coke" and "soda" interchangeably, it just depends what comes out of my mouth. I don't really think about it.

We're all right in terms of what we've been brought up to say. There is no right or wrong, and there's definitely no need to say what you said though, that sort of behaviour is the hallmark of an idiot.
