Porcupine Tree: Deadwing

The new Porcupine Tree album Deadwing is scheduled for release on March 21st by Lava Records / Warner Music. Recorded between March-October, the album has been mixed in both stereo and 5.1 versions. Once again the 5.1 mix was done in collaboration with Grammy award winning producer Elliot Scheiner.

There are guest appearances by Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth, and Adrian Belew of King Crimson.

The final track listing of the 60 minute album is:

7. Open Car
8. The Start of Something Beautiful
9. Glass Arm Shattering

A single of Shallow will be issued to US radio prior to the album in mid February. A commercially available version of the single will also be released in Europe, and will include other tracks recorded during the sessions but not included on the final album.



A special limited edition version of Deadwing will be available to preorder early next year. The band are still working on this but the plan is to include both the stereo and 5.1 mixes in a hardback book format with significantly expanded artwork.

In the meantime, deadwing.com, a microsite dedicated to the album will develop as the release date approaches, with audio, video and other media relating to the album added to the site on a regular basis.

The European tour starts at the start of April, and a US tour will commence in mid May. Please keep an eye on the Porcupine Tree website for regular updates and additions to the band's concert schedule for 2005. So far confirmed are:

as Opeth and Porcupine Tree move ever closer together, Mikael rightly recognizing Wilson as a genius, soon the two bands will just become one like a reverse amoeba splitting.

the single is not as impressive as I was hoping for.. but its a single, so nowadays thats to be expected......... I still have hope for the rest of the album.

However having adrian belew on there gives it massive cool points regardless,
