We're still using MD-Recorders. I somehow feel that they are a little outdated and still way too expensive.

Does anyone use other stuff or have any useful suggestions for equipment that my be a little more modern and stable?

My wife used an Iriver 256 mb with a built in mic. No cost, three hours of recording, size of a lighter. Actually decent sound too.

Do you have the exact modell name? There's quite a few of these... ;)

Thanks for the other suggestions as well but the stuff you suggested is quite expensive... :erk:

I've been using the Hi-MD recorders for the last two years and have been very happy with them. The sound quality is more than good enough for broadcast given good microphones and technique. However I am about to move to solid state recorder in the next few months. I'm looking at the new Zoom H-2 which is about to be released. The Edirol R-09 is an excellent unit that has gotten a lot of pro use in the radio and multimedia world. The Zoom H-4 despite its XLR inputs has a lot of handling noise so as a hand held field unit it's not that great.

It's not that I had problems with the MDs (well at least not with the newer ones...) I just feel like this stuff is outdated...
The Zoom and the Edirol both look nice, still quite expensive though.
