For me personally a Slayer solo HAS to sound the way it does. The moods on the Slayer records represent terror, fear, aggression etc. Harmonic leads just don't fit that well in there. I'm also not having any problems remembering every single note from the solos of "War Ensemble" or "SITA". But, however, I recognize a lack of passion in recent years.
