I like to have everyone in the band differentiate "practice" from "rehearsal." Practice at home, on your own time, learning your parts. Rehearse with a band to get tight and make sure the performance will be there. If that makes sense.
It might be worth making sure your drummer can't hear a thing to get him ready for some of the awful monitoring systems you might come up against at your gigs...
a little off topic: last week i told my best friend/drummer that i dont like her girlfriend and i dont wanna be around when she's around. It seems that I just demonstrated my douchebaggery and also destroyed our band/frienship.
this is not about problems, this is about the decision of every single member if this is a professional band or a bad childs-play reinterpretation of last weeks soap opera.
