Hey guys!

Let me preface by saying i whipped up this mix so we would have something to post on our wall, i never intended to mix these songs since i am sending it off to 608 studios at the end of the week but im surprised at how much i like it.

Due to this just being a pre production track mix i did everything in the box.

Guitars:

Gibson SG tuned to A
Bareknuckle aftermath bridge pick up
Countryman DI box
profire 2626
TSE x50
Recab
EQ

For the lead i used the same settings and used guitar rig 5 for reverb and delay.

Bass:
Schecter Studio 4 w/ active EMGs
Countryman DI box
grace m101 pre
profire 2626
Random cab impulses
Limited and eq'd

Drums are superior metal foundry with a very small amount of DB bass and snare drum mixed in.

Please give me some feedback and let me know what i can improve on!

if you dig the track go like my band at www.facebook.com/pursuanceband

Pretty cool, though in my opinion the synth could be brought down a few db.

How does the Countryman work for you before the 2626? I have a 2626 and no DI box and always just recorded direct into 2626. Thinking about getting a DI box and reamp box for my bands upcoming album but not sure it's worth it.

Thanks for the reply dude! Its all guitar by the way, but yea i should have automated it to come down a little bit once the groove comes in.

As i began tracking this EP the audio engineer that is going to receive all my stems commanded me to get a DI box. I never had one ebfore and was skeptical about it's validity.

After using the Countryman every single time i record i can say that there is a benefit to using one, even if it is marginal. It tightens up the signal just enough to make a difference. I highly suggest getting one. It's not something that will initially put your jaw on the floor, but after you're used to having it in your chain you will never go back.

I would give the snare a little bit more "attack" .Overall it sounds good , the synths could come down for sure.
How you get an SG to tune without problems in A? i barely can with my 24 3/4 scale guitar in drop C.

Funny you ask because it WAS A PAIN IN THE ASS.

We had the guitar professionally set up to fix the intonation and we used huge gauges on the strings, 56g bottom string.

After putting the strings on and having it set up it worked, but things like sustain and fret noise could have definitely been better with a guitar more suited for the job.

We just finished tracking the EP and our ibanez 7 strings came in the mail so there is goodbye to those problems.

If anyone is interested in a gibson sg or a bareknuckle aftermath bridge pick up for a 6 PM me

Just to share the pain, i use 12-60 for drop C and i feel i could use a 62 or 64 to get better tension. Im totally picking a baritone ASAP.
