Hey Guys!

I recently got a used GH100S (it's the old Tony Iommi signature model).
I decided to completely retube it but I'm a bit lost on preamp tube choices...
I'm using an Orange 2x12 that's rather dark, so I thought the whole setup might benefit from something a little brighter in the V1 position, but I'm not sure what might be a good choice...
Any suggestions?

Sounds good, I'll try them!

EDIT:
Oh well, google told me Tung-Sols don't like cathode follower stages,
so I guess I'll just put one up in V1... Any suggestions for the rest?

Don't get sucked into the hype. There are three factories in the world producing tubes; one in China (Shuguang, Ruby), one in Russia (Sovtek, Svetlana, EHX), and one in the Czech Republic (JJ).

Most tubes are rebadged versions of tubes from these factories. You can save a bundle by just going with the original production runs, rather than the rebranded ones like Groove Tubes for example.

Thanks for the information!
So my plan for now is "a russian" V1 and PI, not sure about V2/V3...
As far as I know in that amp V2 is in some sort of cathode follower configuration,
no idea about V3 (and I'm not nearly skilled enough to get anything out of the schematics).
I guess I'll try some JJ!

Well Tung-sol is owned by New Sensor Corporation (EH, Sovtek) but that doesn't mean they sound the same. They don't. Drew is right in that a company like Groove Tubes doesn't actually built tubes, they just "select" them.
