Predators

Predator 1 is my favorite hollywood movie, along with Die Hard. Those are the two best pure action movies ever made. They just don't make movies like them anymore.

I want to see the new Predators, but I really have a sour taste in my mouth since the franchise has been ruined with the gay AVP movies. I hope the new one is gory as fuck and suspenseful. Then maybe it will be halfway decent. Oh is it R or pg-13? I'll boycott if it's the latter.

I saw it on Friday. I liked it, but for some reason didn't love it.

The movie had all of the elements. They stripped the plot down to the barebones, which is a big plus. They gave it the attitude of the first movie but it was a bit darker in tone. Some nice gore, good FX, good enough acting. Adrien Brody was channelling some inner bad ass I didn't know he had.

All of that said, I just didn't LOVE it.

I think the problem is that I didn't really care either way if anyone died or lived. They could have all died at the end and the predators walked off victorious, or they could have killed all the predators and had a spiky dog bbq party. There really wasn't any suspense overall other than in a few brief scenes. But it was fun to watch. Adrian Brody was too much of a jerk to be a hero to cheer for.

The japanese guy was cool, but right around the time they finally introduced his character he wasn't around for much longer, but at least he went out in style.

The russian guy was also interesting and deserved a bigger part.

Yeah, that might have been it.

Brody's character was a total ass, but that was what he was supposed to be. He was "taylor" from Planet of the Apes, who was an ass at the beginning of the film Brody's character just never really redeemed himself, though they tried to go for redemption.
Basically , he was so bad ass that he was more ASS than BAD.

Yeah, it was filmed like he did the switcheroo to "good guy" who comes back and saves the day but it was right at the last minute, and even then thinking about it now I don't think he came back in order to save anyone other than himself: he probably had a feeling his original plan would end in the explosion that it did anyhow.

this tbh

Agreed. He reversed at the last minute more to save himself than anyone else. Also he probably figured he might as well have a chick with him if he is to be stuck on planet Predator. For, you know...
