Hello! Long time lurker but first thread. I'm a songwriting major/production minor at McNally Smith in St. Paul, and for my class I'm recording, mixing, and releasing my own album. I have a few nice guitars, but no amps. Since I can get access to amps here, and through friends at IPR and use the studios in both places, I was thinking it would be a good idea to record guitar DI's at home and then reamp at a real studio. I have a Presonus Firestudio Project (http://www.presonus.com/products/detail.aspx?productid=43) and I was wondering if recording guitars into that, and then into my DAW would be an acceptable DI. My ears aren't developed enough, and the internet is not being helpful for me to figure it out. Thanks!

You can use it, but a quality external DI will sound better. There have been a couple comparisons on the forums before, try a search and see what you can find.
