So i got an fp10 a couple months back, and thanks to Matt Parsons got it up and running. I've been recording this whole time with no problems. No clips, no dropouts, nothing. Then out of nowhere the shit refuses to synch with my computer.

I deleted my drivers and tried to reinstall the old ones, only I cant because the interface is not communicating with my computer. To me, it sounds like the firewire ports on my interface are fucked, and I've read enough on here and the presonus forums to know this shit happens alot.

So after waiting a week for a reply from presonus, they tell me that my firewire chipset is not compatible and that I should take it to a Guitar Center (nearest one being in atlanta, 3.5 hours from here) to test it out. What the fuck? I may be a noob but I fail to see how I could record with no problems for 2 months and suddenly my hardware is not compatible. I would appreciate any suggestions you guys have.

Yeah sounds dodge to me but
- Do you have automatic updates on on your computer? Is it possible that your firewire cards drivers got updated and its no longer compatible?
I know my pc had some kind of automatic pdates that screwed with mef or a while, eventually figured that was the issue and turned 'em off

Also to test it surely you know someone who has firewire that you can quickly test the unit out on rather than drive 3.5 hours to a music shop?

Hey, where are you from? If you're closer to Athens, you can bring the FP10 up here, my desktop has the SIIG firewire card that Presonus recommends. My Firestudio Project has been working great since I got it.

I'll have to check and see if any drivers got changed, I'm not even sure how to go about getting the old drivers for the card. If I have to I'll buy a new chipset, they can't cost that much, I hope

And Matt I might take you up on that, me and Michael were actually talking about seeing if you would let us check out your gear sometime anyway so that would be cool, we live in albany.
