Prices on reamping

Alrighty.... Well what kinds of tracks do they reamp? Do they only do heavy guitar reamping? In that case, I might have about 30 minutes worth of heavy stuff throughout a CD that is mostly acoustic-stuff. Might be more though. I've got 2 DI tracks and I also recorded a couple of amp tracks, but they came out all phasy and messed up. :(

Spoken like a true engineer. Ever hear of guitarists dave?

What, those things that can't tune their own guitar, dial in their own amp, and require more touch up than Paris Hilton? Yea, I've tracked a few of those. Almost as bad as bass players.

Seriously though, a good player though a crappy setup will have crappy tone. A crappy player though a killer setup, dialed in and miced up by the aforementioned killer engineer, will have killer tone. A Good player through a good setup = godly tone. I still think the gear / engineer is the most important part of the equation, as far as tone goes.

Wrong. Absolutely dead-nuts "You're on fucking crack!" wrong.:heh: A crappy player through a killer setup is still going to sound crappy. Believe me, I've dealt with it. Nearly drove myself off the deep end at one point. Then I realized, it didn't matter what I threw at it, or how much money I spent on new gear.... (and yes, I have top-of the heap equipment) it was still gonna suck. The sound is in the hands. Don't delude yourself into thinking better gear will fix lousy technique. It won't. A good player with crappy gear is going to sound a million times better than the former. This is why I don't sound anything like Hendrix when I play a Strat through a Marshall.

At the end of the day, all an engineer can do is set up a killer amp, tweak the mic position out to perfection, run it through a hi-end preamp, and hit record. The sound still has to come from the player.

Right on the first point. Wrong on the second. The most important part is the player.

BTW, I charge a flat rate of $35 Canadian per song for reamping if anyone's interested. Ask Lasse or Gavin about how I work if you need references...

Can't polish a turn no matter what gear you have.

I don't think he thought of it as a typo, but rather to make it funny he used a Polish language cd. Totally made it hilarious. I've been laughing about that for about thirty minutes straight now. Being high would explain the 30 minutes part. Actually, no, I'd still laugh about it for 30 minutes even if I wasn't baked.
