Priest sell out and bring back Halford

Hey, I think you'd feel differently if "Thrax dropped John like a brick and re-joined w/ Joey. I think that was his point. Why bring in a replacement if your just gonna dick him over years later after he's settled in.

Plus I'm a homophobe like that. JUDAS PRIEST need to be fronted by a mean looking son of a bitch. Not a fruit loop. His leather shit worked in the 80s...now it really is just plain gay.

You can't compare this to Anthrax bringing back Joey and getting rid of John. Halford was a huge part of the Judas Priest sound, image, and song-writing process. Joey did not write lyrics, and he was not important to the band's image or creative direction. His voice worked in the beginning but the band took a step away from the style his voice fit. Priest's music always fit Halford.

Besides, we'd see Ripper rejoin Priest before we'd see Joey return to Anthrax.

i disagree dude,i liked joey in anthrax,he had a unique voice which fit perfectly with there music, its easy to slag him after he is no longer in the band but i never once had a prob with his voice when he was in the band,do u really think john bush gets to contribute much, the lyrics are scotts baby, how many songs has john bush wrote????,i could prob count them on one hand!

now that takes nothing away from john either, his presence is electric but dont judge joey and think john is a big creative force in anthrax.

one last point,if those shows did work out with joey a few years back i wouldnt have been surprised if they dumped john in a sec, obviously we dont really know what would have come of it but i really think if the crowds were up and they got a roll on they would have conqered europe and we all know they were the darlings of the euro press when joey was in the band.

Was Anthrax unhappy with Joey while he was in the band? It's pretty obvious they were. Does Joey fit POT at all? How? Would John have?
As for John, he'll never take over Scott's role that he has developed, but his input is still valued. The music will always be mostly Charlie's and the lyrics will always be mostly Scott's, but John is still important to the formula. But I remember Scott describing the song-writing process while Joey was in the band. Charlie wrote the music. Scott wrote the lyrics. Frankie and Scott did the melody lines. Danny did the solos. He did not even mention Joey. Remember, John co-wrote "Only" as soon as he entered the band. And that's when Charlie knew they made the right choice. Plus John definitely fits the attitude of the band live much better than Joey.

I would have been absolutely shocked to see Anthrax dump John if they toured with Joey. I would have placed money against it when the tour happened.

hehe scary thought ha,my main point was dont judge the vocalist by how much he puts in,ozzy is one of the best frontman in the world but we all know he didnt have much to do with sabbath creatively yet whenever they were talked about ozzy's name would be the first to pop up,presence is what its all about!

only is one song tell me the rest please,i am not slagging bush and i would rather thrax with john anytime but he doesnt really contribute that much thats all my point was, thats not a weakness its just the way things are.

john also wrote the lyrics to 'anyplace but here' :Spin:

also to the people saying Pantera need a new singer, they also need a new bassist... it doesnt matter anyway
it was vinnie or dimebag that said (not an exact quote): "we weren't expecting phil and rex to ditch us the way they did"
and Pantera has also said before that basically they will not replace any members, that its not Pantera without all 4 phil, vinnie, dimebag, and rex

Phil has also stated that hes done with Pantera and is focusing all of his energy on superjoint ritual

and Vinnie and Dimebag are doin their "New Found Power" thing too :p...

hehehe

I doubt Ozzy has much creative input in Ozzy for that matter!

I hate this term "selling out" because it's thrown around so much without being defined. Has Anthrax ever sold out? Some say Sound of White Noise was a "sell-out." Did Megadeth sell out? When? Was Risk a sell-out? It sold like shit compared to their previous albums. I've read Anthrax fans say Metallica sold out by doing a music video for "One" even though Anthrax had been doing music videos since their second album.

If you think a band sucks, just say they suck. I might actually like a popular band.

Now Priest goes ahead and reunites with Rob Halford like A LOT of the fans want, and now people are shouting they're selling out. Did Maiden sell out when they dumped Blaze and reunited with Bruce? Should I care?

Good point!
I bet if "We've Come For You All" was as popular as it should be, and further up the billboard (as it deserves to be), some cock-grabbers would call it a sell out!

This isn't selling out; it's returning to a formula that WORKS. You've all forgotten that Ripper didn't write SHIT for Priest. And let's face it, the lyrical content of "Jugulator" and "Demolition" is less-than-stellar. The writing triad of Halford/Tipton/Downing rules the fucking roost, enough said. And even then, look at it this way, Ripper will now be able to do his own thing, his way, without Glenn yanking on his choke-chain.

And BTW, about Sabbath... I wasn't really all that excited about the Ozzy reunion... I always liked their stuff with Ronnie James Dio better. Heaven and Hell is a fucking awesome disc.
