Priest sell out and bring back Halford

" he's great, ripper rules", WTF. all he has done is copy rob halfords voice/scream his whole life. unoriginal and boring if you ask me, if he is so great why cant he sing with his own voice instead of halfords??

This isn't selling out; it's returning to a formula that WORKS. You've all forgotten that Ripper didn't write SHIT for Priest. And let's face it, the lyrical content of "Jugulator" and "Demolition" is less-than-stellar. The writing triad of Halford/Tipton/Downing rules the fucking roost, enough said. And even then, look at it this way, Ripper will now be able to do his own thing, his way, without Glenn yanking on his choke-chain.

And BTW, about Sabbath... I wasn't really all that excited about the Ozzy reunion... I always liked their stuff with Ronnie James Dio better. Heaven and Hell is a fucking awesome disc.

The thing with Dio worked because Ronnie wasn't a clone of Ozzy. They got a completely original singer from a successful band, and made great music. That move also came on the heels of two of Sabb's worst records, so the crowd was hungry for something good. Ripper Owens is a whole different monster - he was in a COVER band trying to be Rob Halford. His version of Priest was completely unoriginal and uninspiring.

All I am going to say on this is that I really like the ripper era albums, but that I am also glad Rob is back with these guys where he belongs. I wish Ripper the best, when I first heard Jugulator, I loved it and actually still do, but Rob is Priest, and this move has been a long time coming.

it will be very intersting to see what they come up with this time,i bought a few of there albums ealy on and painkiller is an absolute monster of an album, the drums sound like thunder.

It is true what you said of Ripper, but you can't blame him without blaming the rest of the band. They wanted a Halford-clone. Furthermore, wasn't Ripper in a Metallica cover band? He is probably capable of being more than a Halford clone. But what say did he have in the band? You can't exactly question Glen and KK when you're in his shoes.

it would be silly to think that ripper was gonna take the high moral ground and say no to joining judas priest, just like it would be silly for the boys that replaced ace and peter in reunion shows,oh no thanks i wouldnt want the opportunity to tour the planet and make some good money along the way.

it would be diff if u were in the band,u would expect an even say.
