Having never heard these guys before, I went to check out their albums, and discovered they've got quite a list piling up...any suggestions on the best CD to hook me in???

Just grab the best of they have called Metal Is Forever. In a weird turn of events this is a best of that actually contains most of, if not all of, the bands best songs. Plus the second disc has some sweet old school cover songs on it.

If you are into downloading bands songs, there is a torrent on a website that has their Discography. I won't advertise it though since I have a feeling it's not liked around here.

I only own the first one, but from what I understand this is a pretty consistent band. All the albums are good and none really outshine any others. Just get a compilation or any album and you'll get the idea what they are about.

I've heard clips from all of the albums and they sound essentially like the first to me, just with better sound. Ralf Scheepers is a veteran metaller, so it's not surprising that the band would be mature from the very first album.

Best albums are:

1. Seven Seals (their best album by far)
2. Nuclear Fire
3. Jaws of Death

That is all you really need, IMO. If you really LOVE the above 3 albums then get the other 3 albums.

Seven Seals and the Self Titled. All the rest are pretty much carbon copies of each other... not bad, just not very diverse.

I'll have to settle for coke chugging.

It's hard to really say any one album strongly outshines another. They are a very solid, consistent band. Their latest, Seven Seals would be a great place to start, it's a nice balance between their earlier and later styles(a VERY, VERY subtle difference here). Then grab Jaws of Death and Nuclear Fire(in that order) from the back catalog. Funny I say this though, cuz my two favorite songs from them are off Devil's Ground. Metal Is Forever and The Healer. Saw 'em at BWBK festival and cannot wait to see them again. Very awesome live!

I will add that Seven Seals is growing on me. It's different from their other release in that it is way more melodic than the others, and not as many hard driving tunes. Still cool, but I prefer Nuclear Fire and the debut still!

Nuclear Fire.

way to start an album than how they start Angel In Black!!! My brother and I first saw that video on a Nuclear Blast compilation dvd and we turned into Beavis and Butthead! "YEAH! Yeah yeah YEAH! YEEEAAAAHHHH!!!" It was.... it was magical... *sniff*
