Im contemplating getting two of these and running them together to enbale 16 track capture... what do you think of these? and any other reccommendations

You could save some scratch and buy 1 Profire and then another 8 channel preamp...Like the M Audio Octane...Same pres as the Profire2626, but about a hundred cheaper. Just connect them via ADAT. Right now, it looks like most places have the Octane about 100 cheaper than the Profire, sometimes the difference is more.

As I said in the other thread, I love my Profire!

Perhaps, but has anyone compared it to the Saffire 26? Though then again, that has the much maligned overly-hot preamp problem...

Either way, it seems awesome though, and my only worry (M Audio reliability) doesn't seem to be an issue judging by all the positive feedback on here!

for 16-track capture it works wonderfully! I'm only running a 2.4 single-core, with maxed out ram in XP and it did it all without a hitch.

It's a little quirky to setup, just right the ADAT cable from the salve profire to the profire thats hooked up with FireWire to the computer.

You have to, however, plug in the slave profire and tell its settings under slave mode to use ADAT A out first in its signal chain. Then plug it back into the host profire and it should work magically. No problems.

Be careful of hot swapping, dunno how they'd take it!

WORD! There are alot more of adat pres on the market in the sub $1000 range as well!

No hot swapping, ever, with any interface!!!!!!!!!!

I`m interested in a comparison as well. The reason I chose the profire, was because I record alot of drums, and the "overly hot" pre amp thing kinda sketched me out a bit.

So far I`m really enjoying my profire.

not much, just a bit of gain, some guitars still run too hot with the pod off and the gain at minimum.
