Producer management?

Creativity and business rarely go hand in hand and I know *many* artists/creative people who simply suck at doing business because they don't care or don't feel comfortable about it.

The amount of artists I've seen who will simply prefer to lose money to having to deal with businesspeople is astounding!

Based on my experience and current dealings with the goddamned IRS (U.S. tax collectors), I second your comments!

74 days is when I start gettin' pissed. Ten months and it's time to get gangsta.

Dude, I must as the obvious question: Whatever happened to "get the money before giving out the master?"

Every time I've tried to be the 'nice guy' I've got fucked. These days, I have the clients sign a payment agreement stating NOTHING leaves the studio unless full payment is made. It really cuts down on stress....:)

It doesn't work like that with labels. You get a P.O. (purchase order) from them first and you'll get your money after the work is completed...Though not always in a timely manner as stated in some of the above posts.
