What's your comments on the line-up?
It seems to me like the line-up is a little weak.
I mean Symphorce is good, Strato's time has come & gone, but I'd still love to see them... I have heard snippets of some of the other bands, but they didn't move me... I'm not saying I'm right, it's just my view? Yours?

Orphaned Land and Therion are the only bands I really don't care for. I'm interested in hearing Circus Maximus, Stride and Manticora because I like the one song or two that I've heard from them. The rest- Can't wait to see them.

I agree this year is weak, for me at least. I have went the last two years and am going again, but my excitement level for this year is not as high as before. I don't really know many of the bands and the couple I do know (Angra and Strat) I don't care for much. The last couple years I have known at least half the bands and became a fan of a few more after the show. I am sure this year will be the same. I will end up liking some of these groups. PP is just a great experience and I trust Glenn enough to put together a great show. I wish he would have brought back Pagan's Mind this year.

From the beginning:

Manticora: Excellent power metal opener. I back catalogued them in the Spring and all their discs are constant in the rotation. I really want to hear "The Flood" but I doubt they'll do a 9+ minute track in a 45 minute set.

Circus Maximus: I can take them or leave them. It'll depend on how hungry I am whether I catch their set or not. They're the only possible burger band for Friday night for me.

Orphaned Land: It took me a while to get into them but now I'm hooked. I'm intrigued to see how they pull some of it off live. Death metal with Mediterranean seasoning. Tasty!

Conception: What? Are you kidding me? What's there to say? I'm looking forward to so many tracks from them that I doubt they'll fit them all in. And Khan two years in a row is just icing on the cake.

Angra: Latin rhythmed proggish metal to close the night. What more could you ask for? They look like a fairly good live act from the DVD that I got with Temple of Shadows. Should be fun but I'll bet I'm a little worn out by then.

Stride: Dunno. This is the only band that I've heard basically nothing from. Guess I prolly ought to pick something up from them.

Symphorce: Andy B. back to kick ass once again. There's planeloads of ass being flown into Atlanta just so Andy can kick it. Overall I like Symphorce better than Brainstorm and Brainstorm brought the house down last year. I'm expecting nothing less from Symphorce this year.

Pink Cream 69: Prolly a fun live act. They've got a ton of tunes that should translate quite easily live. Definitely looking forward to them.

Stratovarius and Therion: Legends and all that, I know, but they do nothing for me. I'll probably catch a few songs just to say I saw them but that's about it. Saturday night will probably be an early one for me. Which is good because I have to get back to Denver early Sunday so I can make the Broncs' home opener.

The pre party Thursday night is the best they've had, IMO -- Orphaned Land acoustic set, D.C. Cooper acoustic set and a couple others that I can't think of right now.

So, who here is going for SURE?
For me... all I needed to hear was that Symphorce was there! Can't wait to see them... also Conception!

SYMPHORCE!! Being able to see the Conception renunion is going to be absolutely amazing! Been listening to some PC69, CircusM and Therion, sounding pretty good and can't wait for this show! The Angra I've heard sounds promising to hear live as well. All in all I think it's a great lineup and wow, only 4 weeks to go!!! :hotjump: :hotjump:

Me, the wife and Mr. Mxgonzo will be there for sure. Like I said, I will go to this thing every year because it is run so well and I end up liking most of the bands after I see them. The only band I really didn't care for the last two years was Secret Sphere. :erk: Plus it's just an overall good vibe with the crowd, meet and greets, vendors and the venue is one of the best I have been to. We're driving up on Thursday and going to make to pre-party as well. Mxg is flying down on Friday I think, and we will hook up with him then. We are staying at the Hampton Inn this year. It's a shame the Fairfield closed, last year was a blast there.

Anyway, look forward to the show and meeting some of you there!!!  :hotjump:

And you're at the Residence too, right? That's where I'm at. I was thinking of getting a car because I have to leave so early on Sunday but now I'm thinkin' Marta on the way there and cab on the way back. Dunno.

Definitely have to hook up before the pre-party. We'll probably cross paths at the airport or on the train. They've been talking about dirt pudding over on the TM board -- whatever the hell that is. Looks like it might have Oreos in it. If it does I'd be scarfing that up.

I will Keep an eye out for ya at the airport! it would be nice to have someone to ride the Marta with this time! I'm pretty sure I know what Dirt Pudding is ... if its what I think it is it does have oreos in it ... ofcourse maybe they just like to eat dirt :dopey:

I'm definitely going.

It's funny that although a lot of people think the lineup is on the weak-side of things, this year's sell-out was the fastest it's ever been (3 days, I think.)

I'm probably in the middle as far as the quality of the bands as I think that it definitely could have been better, it sure as Hell could've been worse.

I'm looking forward to Conception  and PC69. I used to be a pretty decent Strat fan, but they have totally gone down the tubes in recent years, IMO. I'll give them a curiosity look but I doubt I'll stay even half the set. Symphorce should be pretty cool.

The oddest part of the whole thing was not the fact that they were playing, but rather giving Therion a full 90 minutes! :erk: WTF is up wit' that? No way do they deserve that much time, but maybe it's just me.

Should be a fun trip.

I'm in about 4pm on Thursday, Skeleton Crew flying in too from NY :hotjump: sounds like we need to arrange an OS party...how many can you cook for JD? :tickled: We're staying at the Georgian Terrace Hotel about 1 mile away. Will try to meet as many peeps as possible at the airport for those Marta tips, taxi's or I believe my hotel has a shuttle. So looks like we have a pre-pre party, a pre-party, a dinner party, and just a damn good lot of plain old partying! :hotjump:
