Programming drums?

I'm looking for a simple way to program drums in midi.

I picked up a copy of EzDrummer and I like it for the basic loops, but I want to get more hands on with the actual details. Plus I'm pretty sure I could program a loop faster than I can search their library if I had the ability to edit.

I'm currently using a Mac and Garage Band.

I don't use garage band, and I don't think many others on this forum do, so I don't know if there's a way to edit MIDI in GB like you can with a piano roll in logic or cubase or some such method. I don't think there's such a provision.

So Logic does have the ability? I've been looking to make the switch, but I wanted to stick to GB for awhile since I'm still learning.

Yes, Logic has a piano roll that you can hand-sequence MIDI in. It's kind of an asspain at first, but I've used it long enough to get used to it, and once you do, it's pretty easy to manage. Logic was the first DAW I ever used and learned on, and the curve is a little steep, but there are tons and tons of tutorials all over the internet. I don't really use anything else now, mostly because I know how to do anything I want in Logic. Just my 2 cents, though, go with whatever you're comfortable with.

There's always Reaper. I wasnt very proficient at midi anything until I switched to it from Cubase which granted it was an older version, wasnt an easy workflow despite the killer default plugs it had. Reaper is very easy to use when programming drums, humanizing and velocity editing.

I find logics hyper editor to be great for programming drums. Much better than the piano roll IMO

I use a program called iDrum for the Mac. It's made my iZotope. Awesome plugin and it makes programming drums sexcellently easy.

Guitar pro and export the drum track to midi?

+1 for iDrum if you wanna program drums in a step sequencer.
Or you could always invest in some form of MIDI triggers, eg. Trigger Finger (I think this has been discontinued).
I use a Roland e-kit.

I can see myself upgrading eventually, but for now the price is right.

Yeah my friend does stuff in garageband. He just went to pro tools (no idea why but it's cool).

My biggest issue was the fact that you didn't have a whole lot of options for exporting the stuff and programming drums was painfully slow.
