I noticed that, too. I was using IM smilies, which translates to typed emoticons with a different...uh...vibe.

Dude, IM smilies are the gayest things ever. I disable them so all I get are the old style non-graphical smilies.

yes, but they're SO GAY you can use them ironically. which is why my favourite ones are the kissy lip one -* i think) and the wise-ass winky one. but the keyboard ;-) is just lame.
