OK I'm trying to have my session at 48kHz and 24 bit 24/48 ...right but when i try and import a reference song at this rate it plays reference song slow ??

now if session is 16bit and 44.1khz reference song loaded in will play normal speed

what am i doing wrong here??

should i even record at 48/24??

You can't mix sample rates in ProTools so when you import a track that's 44.1 it converts it to 48 which can cause things to sound funny.

The difference between 44.1 and 48 is pretty negligible, I'd just stick to 44.1 and save any conversion troubles. You'll have to convert your final mixes to 44.1 from 48 anyways if you want it to play on a CD which can make things sound a little different.

SPLASTiK said it best man. It's not really a big deal. 44.1 isn't like some demon samplerate or anything...nothing wrong with it. When you are tracking in 24/92...or even 24/192, then you can be anal about it....but 24/44.1 is perfectly fine. CD's, like splas said, are at 44.1...
