Any suggestions on which one to get. I'm willing to blow a lot of money (as soon as I get it saved up :)

I really like the 513 especially the sunburst colors.

What do you guys think?

I think im swaying towards carvin now. I mean for a start like pethical said they are amazing value. You can get a fully customised guitar to your specification for literally less than half the price.
If prs were alot cheaper id say there were on par though. After playing a factory model it was gorgeous but it was just as good as my CU 24 .

*Havent played one built to my spec tho :D

Their amps also rock.. The V3 is amazing..
The carvin models look awesome except for the headstock.. Nothing beats a real PRS headstock.. :)

Carvin, mmmmmmmm. I have had for along time now just been using my yamaha acoustic and really want to get back to playing electric again, i havent heard of carvin and am interested in the fact that you guys seem to rate them quite highly and they seem like a realistic and affordable price for me. Anyone have good/bad news about these and what model would give a good clean sound and 'opeth heavy tone' although obviously the amp will play a part in that but you know what im getting at.

You should probably try and read about woods to find ones you prefer, they play a large part in the feel and sound of guitars. Along with the type of the components etc of course... Carvin seems to be a great deal, because you can get a customized guitar (with good materials) for a reasonable price. Never tried one, but seems interesting.

the california carved top CT6 series are the most prs like, so that might be a start at getting an opeth sound. on some of the gutiars you can get optional piezo systems, but i'm able to get a terrific clean tone just by splitting my humbuckers, so thats more of an indulgence.

how about the recent prs singlecuts and doublecut prs without the glossy finish they are supposed to be more like some gibsons, more like a good gibbo sg,more alive feeling.
but ibenez gems some of the older ones rock or an old jackson or charvel from a while back.

the best guitar i have played is a standard prs lovley, but im no shredder so horses for courses.
if you have a local luithier why not talk to him, they repair all sorts and sometimes have interesting takes on things, my repairer will either build a custom or make up say a jem from bits make a knid of frankenstien a bit like the origional green meanie:kickass:
