Over the past few years I've made a list of music to order/download. Some from here, some from other forums, some from friends. It's gotten rather large now and needs pruning- it's not feasible to download all this, and certainly not to buy all of it. It's not all metal either, some is downbeat electronic- ignore those you're not familiar with.

If you feel so inclined, pick a handful you feel should most certainly stay on the list.

Good call on Dragonforce. I actually already listened to a bunch of their songs and only kept one. (Fury of the Storm, which is must say is quite badass- though the rest were terrible)

Weakling, Gris, In The Woods are all favorites. As for In The Woods the album you should get is "Heart of the Ages."

Bathory - Debut, Under The Sign, Hammerheart, Nordland I, BFD
Dissection - Storm Of The Light's Bane and Reinkaos (Somberlain < SotLB)
Emperor - All is good, ITNE is best
Entombed - All I have is To Ride Shoot Straight, but it's pretty damn good. LHP is supposed to be essential.
Fates Warning - Awaken The Guardian. All of the first four are worthwhile, though.
Gorgoroth - I only have Ad Majorem, but it's well worthwhile
Immolation - Close To A World Below
Incantation - Onward To Gologotha
Isengard - Vinterskugge is pretty good
Kiuas - New Dark Age is alright, but Ein will tell you to start with Spirit of Ukko
Orphaned Land - Mabool is a fucking masterpiece. New one and second one are both damn good, haven't heard debut
Scald - fuck yeah
Soilwork - Stabbing the Drama is good, Sworn is not so great, get A Predator's Portrait
Summoning - Minas Morgul is excellent

Just posting the ones I actually own and think are worth the time; several others are ones I have been meaning to get, but I'm leaving them off my list because I can't actually vouch for them myself.

There's no way in hell Kiuas is must have.

Ok, to be more exact The Spirit of Ukko is a must have and one of the best power metal albums I have ever heard. But yeah their other stuff isn't as good.
