I'm pretty sure they are getting popular by now, but anyway. Anyone into these guys? They are a local band, seen them about 6 times live.

I've got Scepter......one of the best albums last year. They remind me of Dying Fetus, just much better, and thier vocalist is about the best and most diverse i've ever heard in extreme metal.

Yeah, Chalky is an amazing vocalist. They are touring with Deeds of Flesh this year some time, it's gonna be excellent =)

Have you heard their first one, The Isle of Disenchantment? It's not as technical, and lower quality.. but it's a great album still.

I downloaded 3 of the tracks I think from their webby. Agreed; it's not as technical, but it's still very solid music. To be honest, after listening to Scepter of the Ancients so much, I've never even thought about entertaining the idea of having another Psycroptic CD. The newest one is wholly satisfactory by itself!

I prefer Dying Fetus as of now, but I absolutely love Psycroptic too. I'm actually listening to The Isle Of Disenchantment right now, and it's brilliant. True, not as technical as Scepter.. but still worthy of thousands of listens The vocalist is one of the best I've ever heard when it comes to DM, I love the way he goes from deep grunting to high-pitched screams. It adds an interesting touch to it all.

A good band. I like 'The Isle of Disenchantment' better than 'The scepter of the ancients' although the song cruelty incarnate is very very very, errrr good.

To me the songs seem to have more individuality on the first cd and the riffs are about 14.312 times better. Maybe i've just had it for a lot longer.

Overall a really good band in my opinion, only thing that i DON'T like is their lyrics, they are kind of...well...stupid... "there was once this great wizard guy and he like used to RIP OUT PEOPLES GUTS! but the wizard wasn't even a wizard he was a alien from another world and he liked kicking in nuts of people and yeah he like totally killed heaps of people and he was full on evil aye ROaR!1!." etc etc etc..

They are excellent, I wouldn't compare them do Dying Fetus. They don't sound at all the same, Psychroptic is more frantic and crazy and harder to follow. I have listened to Sceptor a few times but I haven't digested it all yet, I need to give it more time to sink in.

I've heard of them as being described as sounding like Nile and Cannibal Corpse...I've definitly been meaning to check them out but I can never find any sound files. Does anyone know where I can find some on a web page maybe?

their webbie, search google for psycroptic, I can't remember it atm. You can download like 3 full songs from their 1st album and The Colour of Sleep from the new one. Good stuff.

....and no....they sound nothing like Cannibal Corpse or Nile. Much more precise and technical than either, and with a thinner, clearer production.
