PT: Elastic audio, is X Form (rendered) better than using rhythmic??

im just doing some elastic audio quantizing and ive never used the Xfor Plugin, is it generally better than the standard rhythmic, monophonic algorhithms?

as ive just put the track into xform mode, and am rendering and its taking a hell of a long time compared to rhythmic!!

answered my own question, xform seems to make it sound weird and phasey :/!!

i still struggle to make beat detective work though :-/ say the notes have been hit too close to gether, and they need separating, i always hear the gap of silence even after adding fades :s

so replace the hit, use another take. Do EA on just that one part, not the whole song. Crop to that section, and consolidate on a duplicate playlist, do EA to fix the gap, commit the change. Paste that into your master drum take.

I've never run into that problem using Beat detective. But if I do, that's the strategy.

so ive noticed, its alright for my kick, snare and tom hits, its just my overheads im getting serious issues!!

EA is seriously nasty on drums. It messes with phase and will give major artifacts even on some simpler material. Totally forget about it for faster metal. You have to man up and do it the old fashioned way, even if it means finding some work arounds.

hmm ive just come back to it after some sleep, and im seriously struggling with BD again, whereas the results with EA seem to work better :/

i know how to use it yer, analyzie the audio region you want to quant, low/high freq emph, choose how sensitive to analyze, separate, conform, crossfade bladah bla!!

its not cuting up the snare top and bottom tracks in phase, and is picking random points to generate for the bottom snare track :/

Then cut by hand. Get the lube out, enable tab to transient and start snipping away and use quantize to tighten timing.

haha, cheers guys, for some reason its working for me now, must have been farr to tired to spend time/work out what was goin on!! seems pretty stable now and im liking the results!!!

Glad to hear, BD always gives me far better results over EA.
