Hi everyone, just decided to add some guitars to an old drum recording I did. This is not a song, just a small clip to hear the mix. I sound replaced the drums, the kick and snare are the Paramore samples. Guitars are Pod Farm. Bass lows are Pod Farm and highs are Sansamp-PSA1.

Here it is!

Please tell me what you think. I know the overheads sound a bit dodgy (performance wise). Any tips, critisicm welcome!

Bass is way too loud.
Cymbals have too much around 4-6khz, sounds really hyped and piercing.
Snare REALLY needs another sample. That paramore samples almost always needs to be paired with either a real snare or another sample otherwise its just way too distorted. The sample replacement also sounds slightly out of time with the OHs.
Kick could come up a touch? But maybe lowering the bass would fix that.

Guitars sound good I guess, but they're always my weak point and I can't really offer any useful comments.

Updated the mix. I turned bass down and that did leave room for the kick. I tried (perhaps not so successfully) to cut the high end harshness of the cymbals out. Any other suggestions anyone, particularly on overheads? I just haven't had HEAPS of time to do them a bit more decent.

Sample

And I haven't done anything to the snare...

Thanks man! You can get the preset here. But I guess you will learn more by me explaining?!

EQ on the Treadplate is 0 Bass, 50% Mids and a bit over 50% for highs. All of the bass frequencies come from the bass guitar. I avoided high-end fiziness by setting the presence mid-way and same with the tone on the Screamer. Gain and Drive controls are all mid way.

With these settings I'm avoiding harsh attack and getting a more alternative rock tone, kind of a "blunter" sound!

EDIT: And the only post-processing is compression + A bit of low and high pass where it's needed.

I just downloaded your guitar tone. It's great. I was wondering, what do you recommend using as far as tone on a second guitar? I don't want to use the same tone twice as it may blend too much. Got anything that goes along well with this one? Thanks.
