My dad was a kid... his cat (or someone's) had kittens... he put one in a barrel filled to the top with water to see if it would swim. it did... so he put the lid on the barrel

my doggy is really sick, his lungs are full of water, he's pretty much blind and deaf and his legs are weak, but he's doing a little better now. Hopefully he's got a couple more years in him.
