I'll have to take your word for it then, though I would have thought it's quicker, easier, safer and less painful to remove the fangs entirely than to sew its mouth shut. The only possible benefit I can think of to the latter is that it would be fully reversible though I can't imagine that enters the mind of the kind of people who'd cripple a snake just so their baby can play with it.
