fantastic album. what i was hoping for and more. way better than OMC2. probably their best or at least most progressive since promised land. love the tate sax in some songs. hopefully next album we'll get more sax, more keyboards and the tunes will be a little more diverse in tempo

Agreed. It's not quite as good as their classic stuff (obviously), but it's easily the best thing they've done since PL. Wilton's solos smoke on this record, too. Only thing I was disappointed about was the fact that they didn't actually write any of the music themselves (it was all done by the producers). Hopefully they'll come somewhere near here on the upcoming tours.

I love the album alot too !!! But please no more sax for me on the next albums ! (I don't really like "trumpet" kinda sounds personally)

the band doesn't write any of the music? is tate just writing lyrics? i thought tate and slater wrote most of the tunes together and then a few tunes are credited to some of the other band members. if thats the case maybe wilton needs to help write a bit more. too bad i think this may be one of the last queensryche albums. i think they'll do 1 more maybe in 2012 but tate is 50 now and i think their career is winding down. maybe get degarmo back for the last hooray.

also too bad this album is only expected to sell from 15k-20k its first week. i was hoping for something closer to 30k to give it a chance to hit the 100k sales mark within a year or so. maybe it will still hit that mark by the end of 2010 but this album deserves more recognition than it's getting. there rumors that "man down" and "home again" will be singles which is a good idea and maybe crossover or at least get some airplay. when was the last time a single by them got radio airplay

oh and i agree wilton has some great melodic solo's on this cd

Ah geeze, this is like the 5th thread on this already.

And yes, absolutely love this album. Easily their best since Promised Land (I might go with OM2, but this is more creative and the production doesn't suck). :headbang:
Looking forward to seeing them in a month.

"I've got to be the killer"

:kickass:Awesome album.....perhaps a notch below Tribe (to my ears, their 'modern masterpiece') but far better than their other post Promised Land records.

The record just has tons of great hooks & melodies....excellent release!

i am also a huge fan of tribe. hated OMC2 though except for (i'm american, the hands, signs say go and the last 3 or 4 tracks)

Im looking forward to buying it. Im am surprised to hear those that mention Promised Land as like a benchmark. I havent heard it in awhile but that was the first when they began to loose me as far as being excited about something they released. I had high hopes for MCII but....

I started out liking this, but I need to revisit it. I listened to it like 4 times and have not heard it now for 2 weeks. Truthfully, the more I heard it, the less I liked it. I don't hear the great hooks SM is talking about. Production is really good. Wilton is great. I wasn't feeling the songs.

I don't need anymore guest vocal appearances on my Queensryche albums. Dio worked. Call it a day. I want Tate, and not this Tate, who hardly stands out on this album.

Flashes of brilliance? Yes, of course. I think Killer, Man Down, and Home Again and a couple others are great. But SO FAR, IMO, this is arguably the worst QR album (next to Tribe). Sorry guys, I don't get it. Give me HITNF any day over everything after it...

I have it. I like it. I wish there were a few more up-tempo tunes, more hooks...more Warning...

Oh well! :erk:

Tribe was a fantastic disc as well. Absolutely HATED it on my first listen and was considering returning it - same for Promised Land - but both reallygrew on me, especially the latter.

promised land is my favorite ryche album and the moment i heard the tribe album i was like "damn its almost promised land part 2"

to me promised land was really the first album that seemed really progressive. at first queensryche progressive side seemed to be that each album was different from the last. e.p. and warning was close to NWOBHM and the songs were long. rage for order was almost goth like in the look and sound. mindcrime was straight up 80's metal. empire brought back all of the songs being a little longer and was their mainstream album and set the stage for promised land with songs like della brown, empire, anybody listening and silent lucidity. promised land was the album where every tune was almost a completly different style of music. metal, jazz, techno, hard rock, piano ballads and lady jane even had a slightly 60's feel to it. i liked HITNF though. it sounded grunge almost but still had a lot of hooks. i noticed backing vocals seem to be lacking ever since degarmo left and thats partly whats hurting their sound. remove some of the backing vocals from older ryche albums and the songs don't sound as good.

At the moment, Promised Land is probably my favorite ryche album. Tribe was quite good but it craps out near the end. Rather enjoyed it though and it's warranted many listens. You can hear in the music they were "reinvigorated" to write and got passionate about 9/11.

I still can't listen to HINTF though, besides Hit the Black, QR just sounded bored on that album. Lyrically bland, musically boring as hell, Tate never even got into his falsetto. It sounded like they made it for their label. Tribe on the other hand had a lot of passion.

thats almost true because if you buy the new remastered version tate explains mindcrime was his baby, empire was degarmo's idea, promised land was once again tates and HITNF was again degarmo's. tate says he didn't connect with the material or the sound chris wanted and thats part of the reason why he had no problem letting chris sing lead on 1 track. i think it has a few standout tracks (sign of the times, hit the black, you, get a life, spool) the rest are pretty good. its an underrated album as shown by my support for it in my avatar

I fucking agree with you 100%!!!!!

Now I'm somewhat pissed that I bought tickets to two different Ryche shows this month!!!!!!
