Queensryche: The Settlement is Done.

Original QUEENSRŸCHE lead singer Geoff Tate will continue to record, perform and pursue a variety of other creative endeavors and, as part of the agreement, will have the exclusive rights to perform 'Operation: Mindcrime I' and 'II' in their entirety as a unique performance.

That part kinda sucks. By the same token, though, it's kinda played out by now so I suppose it's ok.

....and let's be honest: do ANY of us want to see OM:II ever again anyway? I saw Mindcrime in its entirety back in the day, and nothing they could do now would top it. Leave it at peace.

I don't think it stops them from playing songs from those albums, just as a special event. And I'll agree that as an event, it is pretty meaningless to QR without Tate, so I don't think they lose much here.

It is just good to see this resolved so that both parties can move on.

Short sighted on Tate's part. He can't sing those songs correctly anymore and without the QR name, he won't go far with this.

For his own sake, I hope he starts taking care of his voice, himself in general and mostly, his fans if he has any left. He can bounce back but it's a steep hill...

I'm pretty much looking forward to the new QR's output now. Let's see what they can do.

np: Anubis Gate - Horizons (That's an awesome disc!!)

I say let Tate keep milking both Mindcrime albums. It's not as if there isn't other material that Wilton, Jackson, and Rockenfield can play. That said, Milton's idea would be a pretty good jab. I'm just looking forward to hearing more new material with the LaTorre-fronted band, as I really enjoyed their first outing. Also, I really hope they'll bust out some material from "Promised Land" when they do a full-fledged tour. That album is criminally overlooked.

Stay metal. Never rust.

So, they could still do tracks 1-13 of Operation Mindcrime I, followed by track 15 (just skipping the 1 minute 32 second "My Empty Room")?

I think that would be hilarious.

EDIT: Just saw that AngraRules beat me to it!!

Now here's the fun part for you people that live in Seattle.

Geoff Tate has created a new, Seattle-only show, dubbed “Rock and Vaudeville,” that reinterprets the history of rock ‘n’ roll since the ‘50s, featuring songs by Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, AC/DC and other artists. A series of five shows are scheduled May 1-3 at the Triple Door.

You saw the date on that video, right? The person on that mic is as good as dead. And has been for over a decade. It's ok to let the 80s go, man.

If he were playing across the street from me I don't think I'd go to this!
