Surprisingly, I'm digging the Geoff Tate Queensryche song more than the Todd Le Torre Queensryche song. Although neither are particularly remarkable. We'll see how the albums turn out.

I didn't think Cold was awful, but the rest of the clips they released for FU sounded too much like the last few uninspired QR albums. I also thought the "re-dos" of those 4 classic QR tunes were a BIG mistake. Awful.

I believe the other version of the band has better potential to produce some heavier tunes which will be more in line with my tastes. I can't wait to hear it.

I am definitely not pro-Tate in this split. I will NOT purchase his "QR" album. I thought it was funny that he announced they are remixing FU already, just a few days (if that) after he heard what Redemption sounded like. Do we really need TWO versions of this album? I didn't like Kelly Gray then, and I don't now. Not sure why Tate looked to him to make this situation even worse?

I was somewhat involved in the remixing of Geoff's Queensryche's song "Everything." It's a long story, but I was able to get our producer Glenn in contact with Cleopatra and he was asked to remix that track. The mixing style sounds quite a bit like our song "Veil of Judgment," but even better. The song itself reminds me of the new Betrayer album (look it up) with some classic Savatage thrown in (lots of Pianos behind heavy guitars).

Although I may be a tad biased because I was close to the song, I think "Everything" might be the best song with the name "Queensryche" on it since Promised Land (and you know what a big QR fan I am). It's heavy, the guitar riffs are great, and the production of the remix I sat in on sounded better than La Torre's mix (and anything since Promised Land - and I guess you could argue this might be their best sounding production ever).

You have no idea how insanely cool it was getting to hear Tate's individual vocal tracks, especially during the chorus where big Queen-style 4-part harmonies come in. The guy has some serious baggage, but there were several moments where Glenn and I just looked at each and went "this is the guy who sang Mindcrime! You're mixing him!"

The other performances on the track were great as well. Craig from Forbidden has fantastic rhythm technique and Paul Bostaph might have the best drumming technique I've ever heard in my life. The drums sound so huge! There's a reason the guy was the replacement for Dave Lombardo.

I'm very curious to hear how the rest of the album's remix turns out because the original mixes from iTunes sounded dreadful. That's a shame, because the other music seems really good. I hope the rest of the remixes measure up to Cold and Everything. :)

I love 80's Ryche but I can't say I'm big on either of these songs. If it means anything, I'm rooting for the La Torre fronted band. They at least seem genuine and I'd love to see them live. No offense to poundingmetal74 above but Tate's version seems more like a solo project with hired hands. I hated "Cold." I only find "Redemption" underwhelming but still having some potential. I'm hoping the rest of their album is better than that.

That's fair enough. I think Cold is an okay song, but isn't really "Queensryche" at all. "Everything" sounds more like Queensryche, but I would say it's more like a thrashy Savatage song or something. It's much more melodic as well. Cold is more drop-D modern hard rock.

It´s difficult.

Todd La Torre is an excellent singer but I don´t like the new song at all. Tate´s "Cold" isn´t as awful as a lot of the QR stuff post-"Promise Land" but is that enough? Not for me.

I´ll wait until listening both albums but the whole QR drama is a nonsense for me. Disgusting.

I agree, I really like Queensryche live with La Torre, but I'm not a huge fan of the new song. Not a bad song...
It's a surprise that Tate put a lot of guitars in his new album, cause he didn't want Queensryche to sound metal on the last albums. Maybe it is to piss Wilton of!

It's official. They're using Glenn's mix of "Everything" on the new Queensryche album! I can't wait to hear the finished track. I heard it when it was about 90% mixed and even then the production was on par with anything on Mindcrime / Empire.

Just curious why only the one track, as opposed to having someone work the whole album... Had the original engineer finished all of the other tracks except for that one that needed to be remixed?

From what I understand (and this should only be taken as speculation), the label wanted the entire album remixed, and that takes time. So instead they found a half-dozen engineers to remix the different songs so it could be done in a matter of days instead of weeks.

this entire situation has gotten out of hand. imo neither song is very good. the song by tates version is pretty good and the song by todds version sounds like generic 808's power metal

I've never heard of a band splitting into two different bands, yet sharing the same name. How does that even happen? :err:

But anyway, I'll be checking these two albums out when they come out. I don't expect it to be as good as Operation: Mindcrime, but I guess we'll see. :headbang:

The problem will be solved later this year, as a judge will decide which of the two band will be allowed to continue with the Queensryche name.

I find it incredible to release an album with a crappy, and to remix it while it is released.

Hear Glenn's remix of Queensryche's new song "Everything." Even though I may be a tad biased because I got to sit in on a bit of the mixing, I can honestly say this is one of my favorite songs of theirs in the last 20 years. [Make sure to listen in HD and listen LOUD!]

I picked up the TateRyche CD yesterday. I haven't listened to it yet but I'll get to posting a review when I do.

whatever mix i have of the new tate queensryche cd i thought there were about 4 maybe 5 good tracks and the rest was filler. these tracks mixed with the good tracks from dedicated to chaos would have made a great queensryche album
