Queensryche's new concept album....

I really like Tribe. On my first listen I couldn't stand it, but on my second something just clicked. Absolutely love the song Rhythm of Hope.

The covers album was forgettable save for the awesome live cover of Bullet the Blue Sky.

Promised Land was the last great Ryche disc. It's a grower (I hated it at first) but some real brilliance in the songwriting department.

OM2: It was a step in the right direction, like the new Metallica record. OM2, from a writing and guitar standpoint was a return to form for ryche (the broken chords, counterpoint guitar riffs, etc.)

everytime i listen promised land or HITNF or Q2K or tribe i hear something new. i think people really dislike those albums just because they aren't anywhere near the same style queensryche did from e.p.-empire.

i can't understand how tate sings better on the cover album than on OMC2. do you agree he sounds better? maybe its all the singing he's done lately has built his voice backup

i still dislike 0MC2. it seemes forced and pointless

I agree completely. I really disliked each of those albums upon first listen but, damn, they really grew on me and, as you stated, revealed new subtleties with each listen. Most of Tribe is amazing....just a modern classic.

I like the 3 albums, I can't stand Hear in the Now beyond "Hit the Black" (and I've listened to it many times trying to like it.) To me, that disc was uninspired, boring in terms of songwriting, and for the most part sounded like they weren't trying. It was as though they had hit the black in terms of inspiration.

Tate vocally on OM2 was equal if not better than the cover album. Listen to Neon Knights and how bad that sounds (especially when he since the letter I as in "Neon Kniiiiiiights"). He sounded great on Bullet the Blue Sky, but that was recorded 10 years ago. Also, he butchered Innuendo.

Truth be told, he hasn't sounded the same since Promised Land. I have heard bootlegs since about 03 where he's sounded phenomenal and he sounded great when I saw QR on the OM2 tour in 2006. I guess it all depends what day you catch him on.

I equate Queensryche with a big rig truck that has been on am increasing downhill slope with faulty brakes and no runaway ramps to enable them to stop since DeGarmo left. Even when he's come in to write hasn't been any help and their last concept album, O:MII, is certainly my least favorite album by any artist or group ever; so, pardon me if my enthusiasm for this band just can't see me through to purchasing this album.

HITNF is probably the album i listen to the most other than promised land :erk:

You guys inspired me to go back & listen to Tribe for the first time in 5 years. Must admit that it is better then I had remembered.

I gotta disagree...Tribe is o.k. but nowhere near a modern classic.
Would only put HITNF slightly ahead of it.

I think Promise Land is far better than both mentioned and one of thier true gems. A very mature, diverse and a evolutionary release for the band.

my .02

I can honestly say that I like HITNF much better than anything after it. I think it's a great album, and I totally love the song DeGarmo sings...unlike a lot of people. There are admittedly (only) a few tracks on it that I might skip over, unlike anything before it.

I enjoy the post-DeGarmo era as much as any self respecting Queensryche die hard can be expected to. :headbang::lol: But truthfully, I enjoy about 50% each of Q2k, Tribe, and OM2.

I thought they were headed in the right direction with OM2, but it was a little long. I like the new concept, and as always, I'm looking forward to their next release.

They kind of lost me too after Empire. I never listen to II and I gave it many tries. They even lost us at the Mindcrime concert when they went into the long extended death part of II, they just arent clicking with the song writing, very bland on MCII. Then I went to see their concert where they played their lesser known songs, I was totally lost and couldnt see the point, even knowing most artists tire of playing their fan favorites but most of those songs were forgetable. I cant warm to the new guitarist, somehow he just doesnt seem to fit, I dont like his tone and he came out at the one concert and played all night with a HUGE set of headphones and one of those ski hat type of things on.... WEIRD! I have Q2K and enjoy that some but almost as if its another band. Promised Land is... OK, I havent heard Tribe. I only listened to Covers a few times, its... "interesting" and I was only glad to see them cover Blood Money from JCS, one origional, awesome, powerful vocal performance by Murry Head if no ones ever heard it, check it, so I was glad to see Tate recognized the song worthy, Tate fan that I am he still didnt quite capture the magic. So... DAMN... let me say I hope they write some good songs this time, at least one last final inspiration from one of my former favorites.
