Question about guitar pickups...

I have a Fernandes Revolver Elite lying around that doesn't get much use, and I was thinking about putting some new pickups in it. I know for certain that I want the SD Live Wire Heavy Metal in the bridge. However, I want something more accurate/clean in the neck for lead. I was thinking the sh-10 would work. When I mentioned this to a friend, he said it was a bad idea to mix passive and active pups. Is this true? Also, would it be better just to get the LW package?

It's not a good idea because you would need two seperate circuits to get the most out of both pickups (not to mention significant output differences).

I think it would be best to just go with the LW set. I have the bridge model, and I love it I only wish I would have waited a little longer and gotten the full set.
