Question about midi shit.

okay, so i have an alesis dm5 and a trigger wired to my laptop through midi-usb, and i was wondering what type of DAW or program should i use to replace the sounds on the trigger, if that is even possible. Im running an intel macbook. please help me out? thanks alot.
