Hi Chris,
I recently decided to switch my major to Jazz at college, and as of about last March or April of 2010, Jazz is kind of a new thing to me. I have been accepted into the music major program, but not the specific one that I wanted, which was music performance, and I was told I would be able to switch to Performance if I were to put a lot of practice in. What should I practice to expand my jazz skills? I was told by my lesson guy to figure out the inversions for the dom7, maj7, min7, and half diminished chords on the D and A strings, which I have done, to learn more tunes from "The Real Book," to arpeggiate the songs "Straight, No Chaser" and "Oleo," and to transcribe some songs. Since you are a guy that seems to practice all styles, I was wondering if maybe you could give some advice as to what else there is to practice.

Thanks,
John
