well, if they are all very personal and if you perform those songs every now and then I think it's wouldn't be hard.
The memory can be huge
Think of all the songs you know and can predict how they go

i know them all in my head to hum along too hahah
but yeah i've forgotten how to play most of the chords (where to actually place all fingers) cuz so many chords were either done outside of the power chord or on 3-6 strings incl open tunings etc... but once i re-learn the first the next one pretty much follows smoothly, almost like an old book turning it's pages again...

I've also wondered that. Like for instance Maiden's Rime of the Ancient Mariner. There's no chorus in that song and tons of lyrics. I've always amazed how Bruce Dickinson can remember the lyrics for that song.

(which isn't at all a bad thing I'm even amazed how amazing you can make them sound in Katatonia)
