question for Death fans.

ok on the albums Individual thought patterns and symbolic it says: Gene Hoglan - Drums and props/propeller what does this mean? what is meant by propeller?

Gene actually uses this boat propellar as a instrument like cymbal. He also was using a spent artillary shell mounted on his kit when I saw him with death as well. Gene is a badass plain and simple!

Yeah, just listen to some of his drumwork...Like on "Symbolic"(the song), or "Crystal Mountain". He's got this super-fast ride-cymbal-sounding stuff going on along with the rest of the beat (snare, crash, etc...) that would be near impossible to pull off for any drummer...Unless he has a propellor of course...

If you check out the video of The philosopher, you can catch a glimpse of it somewhere near the end, after the solo, If I'm not mistaken.

Damn, Hoglan rules. I hope he comes here with SYL, I'll be getting him to sign my Symbolic cd for sure! A masterpiece in the metal world!

It's my favourite Death Metal band - and I will miss that band forever.
Never had the chance to see them live; never will...
But I thank Chuck for giving me such a strong influence on my vocal style and songwriting.
