Question for other Christians

Both pages actually have some good, scriptural information, but it's presented in such a legalistic way, I would never show it to anybody. Ever.

Additionally, they miss the difference between regeneration and reconciliation.
Regeneration is when the Holy Spirit comes into your life, you are saved, and you can start living as a Christian. This is marked by new desires, thoughts, passions, etc.
Reconciliation is the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit to make your more and more like Christ.
The fact is, 1 John 1:8 says "If we say have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
Basically, John (writing to Christians) says "If you claim not to sin anymore, Jesus isn't with you and you aren't a Christian."

At the end of the day, it is God who saves, not we who save ourselves. If God wants to save us, He WILL get through to us.

On a related note, a passage that is very helpful to me is this: (Romans 7:14-20)
We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

At the end of the day, it is God who saves, not we who save ourselves. If God wants to save us, He WILL get through to us.

I didn't read the links, but I think Jay summed things up very well.

"For by grace are ye saved by faith; and that not of yourselves: It is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2: 8-9

well, it was very interesting and he made good points, and he was right about alot of things. HOWEVER, there are somethings I want to address.

1. when he talked about knowing something is a sin and committing a sin and doing it anyway. In Jude it also talks about committing sin knowingly is a damnning thing, HOWEVER, who doesn't know lying, lust, hate, and stealing is wrong? yet we all do it. Paul talks about it in Romans 7:19. he says something like "the good i want to do i dont do, and the evil i dont want to do i do." He is talking about sin and doing it despite knowing its completely wrong. But he goes on to say "if i do what i dont want to do it is no longer i who does it but sin that dwells in me i find then a law that evil is present with me, who wants to do good. for i delight in the law of the Lord according to the inward man but i see another law at work in my body warring against my mind and bringing me a captive to the laws of sin which is in my own body. what a wretched man i am! who can save me from this body of death?" he clearly says that it is not him who is sinning but instead his sinful nature that is dragging him into submission. For it is a constant war that his own bady is selling him out for and he cries out for help and see what he says next, "I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord! so then with the mind i serve the law of God but with my sinful nature the law of sin." Which is Jesus Christ and his spirit is the only way to beat your own sinful nature. now if you read all of Romans 6, 7, and 8 you will see that it is possible to beat sin in our victor Jesus Christ and we must keep fighting but if we slip grace will cover us. It also says this better then I in 1 John 1:7-2:9 which i will ask all of you to read for yourself for getting pure truth through scripture is the only way to beat deception from anyone (including me even if i dont mean to)

"As the battle rages on and on I face the things that put my faith to the test When fallen angels won't leave me alone Father, come and lay the demon to rest When my sword has broken off in my hand I see the dark futility of the flesh When I'm about to fall, please help me stand Father, come and lay the demon to rest"-Theocracy: Lay the Demons to Rest
