Ya know... actually, people here are very hopeful about Lula! He tried to reach the presidence for about 20 years, he was a metallurgic, and he got injured in duty, so as he hasn't received any government support 'bout that, he started a sindicalyst movement called CUT (Central Unica dos Trabalhadores / Unique Workers Central), and he founded or helped in the foundation of lots of sindicalyst movements among Brazil.
Back in 89, he candidates to the presidence against his main opponent, a guy from Alagoas called Fernando Collor de Mello. Mello won the elections in a called "fraud-elections", which our main TV network "Rede Globo" helped Mr. Collor de Melo to win the elections.
In 92, Collor was impeached by the massive majority of the deputies' vote, 'cause he was accused of corruption.
Now, 10 years later, shorting the story a little, Lula won the elections, entering to the Guinness Book of Records as the president that was elected with the bigger ammount of votes, in the history of mankind...!!!!!!!!!!!
As you can see, the expectations are endless about this president, but the reality is another thing, 'cause our country's a little messed up by years and years and years of corruption.
Personally, I believe that Lula can and WILL change somethings in our country, in this period of 4 years, but I believe that he'd need another 20, or 30 years to get most of the mess fixed.
About the foreign capital, well... I can say that it sucks... great shows had already been canceled here 'cause of non-viability of spending dollars in bringing these shows to here.
In the stock exchange, One American Dollar has the value of 3,65 Reais (R$ = Brazilian money).
Or, US$ 1,00 = R$ 3,65.
As you can see, if any show cost about US$ 100.000, here in Brazil, it'll cost about R$ 365.000!!!
Luckly, we can count with brazilian CD distributors, such as Hellion Records, which reprints the CDs here, and the final cost is much more cheaper than an american CD. For instance, an american CD, here, can cost about 50 Reais, and a CD released nationally, through Hellion Records, costs nothing more than 20, 25 Reais.
