brasilia, Brazil
from August on i'll take a sabbatical year and I'm moving to the states. I will live one year in Denver and i have a few questions:

In Brazil all homes are built with brick and not wood, then, what to look for in an apartment on the quality of construction, thermal and acoustic insulation ?

Is it worth buying a used car or new (leasing - monthly pay). As a foreigner I can buy a vehicle with leasing? How do I get a year, it would be like to sell / return the car?
To get a driver's license is it required some type of course or I'll just need to do a test?

First- Homes in the US can either be built of Wood or Brick or a combination of both, or of stucco. Second- Most apartments in the US are built, well some are good others not so good. As far as insulation well most apartments have fair insulation just enough to meet codes.

As to Cars, wellllllll You will not find a one year lease, you can rent a car for a year but the monthly rate will be almost 4 times the lease rate, Example(From El Paso Tx, which is 10 hours south of Denver)- 2012 Honda Accord lease - $199 @ month for 36 months, with $1999 due at signing, Renting(Denver) for 1 year $7234.45.

Drivers license - first get an International Drivers License before you leave, it is good for a year in the US and is recognized, or you can get a Colorado License, but there are documents you need see this website: http://coloradodriverslicenses.org/new_license.html
