Hey there,

I was bored the other night and threw this together. A lot of bands around here love the Chango Studios sound so I decided to see how close I could get to it. I think it's alright. I know most people around here aren't the biggest fans of his tone, I can't say I am either. Like I said, I just threw it together for poops and giggles. Let me know what ya'll think.

I don't know why no one commented on this.

This is really fucking good. Your snare needs a little more high end and a good bit more room, but that is a really good mimic.

That snare is so unique!

Wow thanks man! I'm glad someone finally commented it. I was starting to think I did a shitty job. haha.
I'm thinking I might use this drum tone a bit more often for projects.
I'll make those changes on the snare for sure though. Thanks again!

Guitars need less 400hz and more 800hz, as well as more fizz. The guitars on "The Tide" definitely sound like they were done with a condenser mic, or multi-micd, do to phasing in the tracks.

The drums need to be MUCH roomier. The snare and toms especially.

It's definitely not bad, but you'll get there with a push in the right direction.

It's SSD obviously and it's snares 3P and 5 mixed together.
Overheads on. No room. Space Designer Snare Reverb.
I've got a FET compressor on it and some weird EQ. I think I boosted like 4 different frequencies.
All the drums are going through the API-2500 Compressor and being clipped.

Can you mix drums together in SSD? Or are you doing it externally and using the slate samples in a different sampler? I've never really tried mixing samples within Kontakt/SSD

Thanks for the info though!

I use the Multi-Output version of Kontakt and route everything through their own Aux channels.
Then I mix from there.
