so just too be 100% clear and hopefully not to sound like a retard but the behringer will be fine with mixing audio.

Yes, the Behringer will be a control for your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation (Cubase, Pro Tools, Logic, etc) ). It will not be able to record audio. It simply act as a hardware control surface for your DAW mixer. So instead of playing with a mouse and moving levels, panning, recording, etc by hand, the behringer will do that by controlling them instead.
