I was reading Bass Player Magazine and saw a little article on Lemmy and his between-Motorhead-tours side project called the Head Cat ( All vintage rock and roll covers). On explaining how and why he chose to make a record of songs by Buddy Holly, Johnny Cash and Eddie Cochran:
"That era of rock is what I grew up on. If it sounds old-fashioned to you, f**k you, I was there - it doesn't sound old fashioned to me!
Made me laugh as I pictured his face and voice as he's saying it!
Aja! Thank you so much for posting this here! I've never heard about this project, but given the fact that I love those old RNR songs,I have got to buy this record!
I know lots of funny quotes from musicians.
There was a show on VH1,called "Rock stars daughters".One of the participants of the show was Alice Cooper's daughter,Calico. They were talking about how she helps his dad,by playing a few different characters in Alice's extensive stage show,so she has to travel with the band. When the reporter asked her about her "private" life, her daddy said:"Yes,she has a 'thing' for bass players...that's why we never tour with Motley Crue!"
In a different VH1 show, they were talking with Vince Neil, about his car accident, back in 1986.It was totally his fault,he was drunk, and high on heroin,he was speeding excessively,he passed a red light, and crashed his car with another car, causing his occupant to die.He got out of the case as innocent. He said:"Yeah...I was the O.J. Simpson of the 80's!"
On the bonus DVD,that came together with the AMOLAD album,Steve Harris was talking about a long time argument between him and Bruce about the different methods of songwriting.Bruce prefers to write the melodies "around" the lyrics, whilst Steve prefers to "fine-tuning" the lyrics, whenever the song is done,'cos "Major part of our fanbase is foreign, they don't speak english, they don't understand the lyrics, anyway".Bruce's reply was:"Yeah,well...but I ain't singing for them...I sing for me!"
...to be continued!
