R.I.P DIME

To Dime!
His probably kicking ass and chewing bubblegum up there with Randy! :kickass:

Gonna have a Black Tooth Grin (or 6) in his and John Lennon's honour.
Black day.

This show is an annual thing over here in SLC. It was this past Saturday this year. Vinia played "Use My Third Arm" extremely well. The tribute band "Pantera'D" did a good job too. Their drummer is named Skinnie Paul.. hahaha.

My band played last year. A heavily blast beat influenced version of "War Nerve". We didn't get invited back this year. Apparently they didn't like Pantera Death metal..

RIP DIME.

I used to have Dime and Pantera posters on every wall of my dorm room in college. I read his column every month in Guitar World and practiced constantly. I tried extremely hard to duplicate his guitar tone with a Boss Metal Zone pedal and a variety of other n00b gear. I used to keep my dorm room open and jam out Pantera songs with my small (plastic enclosure) practice amp cranking, occasionally developing small audiences.

Dime was awesome, an inspiration for crushing riffage, whimsical virtuosity, and drunken mayhem. It's still hard for me to believe he's gone. Here's to Dime! :kickass:

I can't believe it's been four years already. It seems like just yesterday that I spun vulgar display of power for the first time and was inspired to pick up the guitar. This brew's for you dime! :kickass:

I got a hold of one of the guitar picks he would through out by the handfulls at one of there shows. I played it until it turned to nothing but dust and a tiny little nub.

+1. Minus the college dorm room part. For me it was my bedroom in my high school days. I used to want one of his Washburns soooo bad. My first real amp was an RG100 because of him. Ah man. That guy is a friggin hero. I hereby dedicate this beer I am drinking to you, Dime! :kickass:

I had seen him for the first time..2001 with Slayer & Biohazard in Germany. But after the 11. September, Pantera wanted to stay in the USA. I never saw the best metal guitar player life:-( And fuckin´YES..he was the best in my opinion.

I played nothing but 3+ hours worth of DIME on my radio show last night. Everything as far back as "I Am The Night" (D.G.T.T.M.) all the way up to Damageplan and rarities/guest spots.

Akward story...I was in Billings at the Slayer/Mastodon/Killswitch/Hemlock show the night it happened. Chad (Hemlock) was out in the lobby on the phone surrounded by people about ready to start crying, someone had called him and told him what happened. Apparently, someone told Slayer too because they were on a fuckin grand roll and they just disappeared...they came back out and played 2 more and left pretty abruptly ("Thanks for coming, good night", no throwing picks/sticks, they just walked off). Then Kerry came out and left a shot on the stage as the crew tore down. I didn't believe it when I heard it, but sure enough the next day it was confirmed.

Cheers to Dime!
