R.I.P. Gary Moore

I don't like swearing on these boards, but...holy fucking shit. This is horrible news....Moore was one of THE coolest guitarists ever. I loved his rock/metal albums from the eighties, and his blues stuff was pretty damned impressive too. I know what I'll be listening to for the next few days. R.I.P Gary Moore....one of the best.

Damn, that's way too young to die. I'll admit that I only became familiar with him after Nightwish's cover and that I never really became a fan, but this sucks.

R.I.P. Gary, your music will live on especially this one:

Wow! That is fucking horrible.
Saw GM several times with his band in the Eighties and was a big fan. As late as two days ago I watched the "Tribute to Phil" dvd from Dublin with Moore and the other Lizzy guitarists.

Very bad news indeed.

Its now official. http://www.gary-moore.com/

On this dark day, the one bright spot is Gary's extensive legacy. Like Dio, he left us a huge collection of recorded history. From over 20 recorded albums and numerous guest appearances on other records. Not to mention live albums and best of all, video footage throughout his career .. most of which has only been released on VHS. So here's hoping that the keepers of his estate lovingly release this official footage on DVD and Blu-Ray. Then comb through the archives for more lost gems ... not unlike what occurred after the passing of SRV and Tommy Bolin.

On this day, I'll be playing some of those videotapes, CDs and DVDs. Then drinking a toast to the lost guitar wizard.

I've been a fan of his for many years. I remember blasting "Nuclear Attack" when I was in my early teens. I loved "Over The Hills and Far Away" way before Nightwish covered it and have always wanted to see him live.

I agree with 5150 and hope that there will be some rarities released, like it was done with Dio's Donnington CD.

I hate to hear this. Gary could pull anything off on the guitar: metal pyrotechnics, cool jazz, searing blues. I always felt that his playing was more emotional than his contemporaries. He will be missed.

I was actually listening to Lizzy when I saw this thread, had to double take to see if I was reading it correctly. A sad day indeed that one of the world's greatest guitarist has past.
My first exposure to Gary Moore was 1985 Gary Moore 'White Knuckled' when I was fourteen over 20 years ago. I listened to that cassette so often. Now I own so much Gary Moore and always looked forward to newer material and well I guess that is over.
