Racism.

AND ALSO...you say justice will be served...

so what if this guy is a dumb racist and SAID some stuff to a tech support guy? Yeah, I'm sure it made your day bad, but do you have any proof he actually ACTS on these beliefs?? What you are considering doing is probably illegal, and AGAIN makes you look worse than the racist guy.

Way to not let him get to you....

WHAT THE FUCK!!?! Racism is a bad thing, but you are just as much of a dick if you abuse your position and give out someone's personal information. In fact, I'd be willing to say you are WORSE than this racist because maybe he was just dumb and ignorant (which doesn't necessarily make it right), while you fucking know exactly what you are doing...

I've worked Tech support, and I've heard it all, especially with the company I worked for. But for the most part you just let it go, or the dial tone... If someone can't act civil, just push the next button. I agree that giving out this dudes information would make you feel better after the earful he gave to you, and he probably does deserve some sort of crap happening to him for his actions, but I have to say, don't put yourself at risk because some racist bastard thinks he is better because of his skin color.

I don't agree that it makes you worse if you were to do that, because he did in fact piss you off, but is it worth the law suites that could occur if you did give out his info.

Just let it roll off your back. When I worked the phones, and I had some person freaking out, I would just put the headset down until they were done screaming, I never heard a word they said so my tone of voice was still friendly, and just worked through it.

Are you sure you weren't the racist person calling his tech support?
:heh: Just messing bro!

I have friends/acquaintences who drop n-bombs like there's no tomorrow, j-bombs, g-bombs, s-bombs, s/n-bombs you name it. None of guys are racist. I think most of the terms are funny, though a few are genuinely hurtful -- you just got to know where to draw the line. If you honestly believe that all people of a certain skin tone need to be killed then you got personal issues.

Am I looking for proof? Do I need any? I did not appreciate what he said. End of story.

And what is this mention of illegality and law suits? I wasn't aware that there were any laws about signing someone up to website without them being aware. If there are laws of this nature why aren't thousands of people in jail for writing and using tracking cookies and other types of data collection? How about spam? It's the same concept. It's not like I'm posting his password for everyone to see or am even using it myself!

I'm sure if I wanted I could find one of your email addresses within 10 minutes. Anyone can with a bit of legwork. And how could I be caught from signing some random hillbilly to anti racism sites from a public computer that does not use any kind of login credentials? The internet is a big place my friend.

Also, where am I going to look bad for doing something like that to a racist? I don't plan on attending any KKK meetings.

Take the pillow case off your head and open your eyes. I look forward to you answering my questions

Pillow case off my head? Dude, the remarks he said were against Hispanic - I AM HISPANIC! Technically that being said, then what went on should offend me the most, right?

I'm not saying what you want to do is right or wrong, but just giving advice to watch what you do so it doesn't cost you your job. I'm sure that if you used information received from your company to do something, could it cost you your job or could there be a potential lawsuit? I appreciate your anger in this matter, because it is rightfully so, but if there are risks involved of trying to serve justice, or revenge, just count the costs, whatever they may be, if any at all. In other words, is it really worth it, that's all I'm saying.

Peace.

I think you missed the quote. What I said was directed at something posted by Remy5150.

Besides that misunderstanding all of your points are valid and appreciated.

As far as losing this job goes, anyone and their mother could take a guess as to how much I care whether I have it or not. And honestly, this morning my girlfriend gave me that extra push to quit as she sees how this job effects me in negative ways. It's not only a support job, we are forced to meet a certain sales metric by selling services to customers who's services aren't currently even working hence the call to the tech line!

Put simply, by the end of a good day my palms are clammy and my jaw is sore from grinding my teeth all day. It is not the job for me. I will be giving two weeks notice tommorow. :kickass:

LoL! Those jobs do SUCK! I hated every minute of it after awhile. But On the other hand, my hatred for that job (and a few others that I didn't care for) is what made me decide to go out and get a degree.

times are changing so much, i get white guys dropping the n-bomb around me and even talking to me like its ok.....and im talking about the white guys who act black. i dont have a problem with the fact they feel comfortable around black peeps...i hate that they feel so comfortable that they think they can say to me "whats up nigga". I dont care if theres an A at the end instead of the ER, it's still wrong. i saw a couple of white guys calling eachother the n word and it was almost funny. but as i said before times are changing cause almost 30 years ago you wouldnt see black guys listening to metal....at least not in public.

I hate it when I start talking "black" around black folks, I hear myself doing it every once in a while. I hate it when other people do it to. It's this stupid self conscious "Hey look how NOT racist I am, I am DOWN with you brother." Which makes you sound like you are racist, like you have to communicate differently to speak to someone different than you. I catch myself most times. But I've done it.

Stupid.

I have always hated the N word, whoever says it. Black people can say it if they want to I suppose but it keeps the word alive, and then it becomes a colloquialism, white folks have copied black culture forever and if they hear "what's up n**** a million times and they think it's cool they do it too.
Honestly I have heard white guys calling each other that a million times more than black guys, just not IN FRONT of black guys.

I think the internet and forums like this are cool because I have no idea where or who anybody is and it doesn't matter.

I think this type of racism is going to be dying out for the most part when the babyboomer gen starts dying out--most of them learned it from their parents and experienced it themselves throughout their lives, but for example my generation(I'm 31) we never experienced segregation, seperate restrooms, etc we have always lived life with other races--whether its school, or being exposed to their culture, and the younger generation this is also true but even more so. Will racism die out completely? Prob not, there are always going to be idiots that need someone to hate, but its going to stop being culturally based or inherited as had occurred in past generations

i hated it when the australian cricket team toured india (Mumbai to be precise) and the crowd started chanting..monkey..monkey at one of the aussies?

you know whats funny...when you say you sometimes talk black. as you know i am a black guy and i grew up in a mostly white area....at least it was when i was growing up, but when i go around black peeps they think i am trying to be white cause i dont talk "black". so sometimes when im around all black peeps...i talk "black".

Personally, I have no patience for that kind of thing.... Devouredremains, I hear you & empathize. Growing up Canadian, yeah, I had a pretty mixed bunch of friends.... it was just normal, as far as I knew. Hell, I was even in a band that was mixed... again, no big deal. Great band while it lasted, anyway.

It sucks that there's always some asshole that can take the joy out of life though.

You said it much better than I could have. Thats exactly where I'm coming from. I've never heard racism first hand like that and not to be emo or anything, but I find it sad. And to have to listen to someone screaming about it for 1.5 hours is horrible.

I can't imagine what it would be like to be the person being discriminated against. What if one of the hispanic employees at my job got that call? It makes me feel sick to think about that.

I recently seen on television that some call centers in India now have on-site counciling for the employees due to them being treated so poorly by American callers.

Also, where am I going to look bad for doing something like that to a racist?

I've been thinking about this and...

In the United States, sir! That shit your talking about is both illegal and classless. Threat or otherwise, the fact that you would even think about fucking with someone else's information shows that you are just another one of those internet pinners, who likely defines "integrity" as being able to type "own3d". Fucken A, grow up. Honestly, who do you think you are, Superman? You don't know that guy. So you're going to stoop down to his level? He was probably raised in some racist hick town and never had the opportunity to get educated properly. So he deserves to have his privacy stolen? Cmon, who are you, the Police? Are you God? Are you? What makes you feel like you have the right to do that shit. I seriously hope you wouldn't consider doing that in real life. And YES I would say all this to your face, I'm not hiding behind my keyboard. Fucking with people's privacy is the pure definition of being a PUSSY. I still can't believe you even said that shit. Honestly I wish you were here so I could yell at you.

Fucking shit, people like you do the internet exactly what racists and homophobes do to the United States. Beers on me.

Edit: apologies for fuming on you on that, but seriously, i really hope you wouldn't do that to someone else, someone you don't even know. i hope you were kidding.

Ha ha, I hear you man, the black side of my family has the same "problem". Face it, we are all insecure dorks, trying to hide it in one way or another.

And to genius, man I don't know that signing the dude up for gay porn accounts for "stealing his privacy". Maybe I'm wrong, but just sayin'. More of a practical joke?

Anyway PEACE people (there I go talking black again)

X, at the risk of sounding like the idiots who call Marijuana a "gateway drug," I'll definitely say that tampering with people electronically is dangerous. You can't just wield that power wildly like this. If I found out someone had impersonated me and signed me up for any mail list, I would literally do what ever it takes to get him back. It would upset me a lot more than if someone had called me a racist name.

Yes, it is stealing privacy. That guy is going to have to take a half minute out of each day for the rest of his life cleaning out junk emails from his account. Sure, I think he deserves it. But it's not my job (or anyone else's here) to enforce his punishment.
