RAGE,SYMPHONY X, NIGHTWISH and etc..

Geeeeeez we are lucky to even have a festivel like this on the states and people still complain. Iced Earth will tour you can count on that. I am so glad Stratovarius is not playing personally, but hopefyll you guys will get a tour from them eventually that won't be able to see them.

Once again in my opinion this is a great lineup!!

How do you know that Glenn paid BG and GR their typical asking price to book them? It would not suprise me in the least that these bands took less than they usually get to play this festival because they knew this was the best way for them to get to play a show in the US that would come close to approaching the type of show they get in Europe or Japan. Maybe Helloween and Stratovarius didn't feel this way and demanded their full price. Maybe they have other plans during that time period, I know Helloween is working on a new album, with possibly the only name they could come up with thats gayer than Pink Bubbles Go Ape (Rabbit something or other). Maybe Timo Tolkki decided there were too many mp3 downloaders in America and since mp3 downloaders can't be fans of Stratovarius then they don't have enough fans to warrant playing over here. Make sure you have the full story before you go about casting stones.

HEY BUDDY,

IF YOU CAN READ MY STATEMENT WAS STATED AS QUESTION NOT AN FACT NOR ANSWER...IN ANOTHER WORDS I'M NOT SAYING THAT THEY WERE CHEAPER OR NOT, BUT THEY DO SHARE THE SAME QUALITY OF MUSIC..
NOW IF YOU DON'T LIKE HELLOWEEN NOR STRATOVARIUS , I DON'T CARE ...

Well, 'Buddy', quality is a relative term. I think, top to bottom, this may be the strongest progpower lineup yet. Each year had one or two clunkers in my mind, but this one doesn't have any (only in my opinion though). I think it is reasonable to assume that Nightwish sells just as many albums as Blind Guardian and Gamma Ray (on a per album basis, not total over history) and it wouldn't suprise me if Rage has sold more albums over their history than any other progpower band, they've certainly been around longer. It all depends on how you define 'quality'. So while you're certainly welcome to your opinion, it doesn't seem to me that bashing the promoter of the best and only worthwhile US prog and power metal fest is the best way to promote the music we love in this country.

Oh and for the record I do like Stratovarius and think that Elements is their best album yet. Helloween is ok, I own a few of their albums, but I could certainly live without them.

Hopefully Stratovarius and Iced Earth may be added since there was so much talk about it and personally I would love to see them do it. Also, what about Grave Digger and Running Wild, they deserve to do this festival and I would to see them make it to our shores. Anyway, this years bill looks good with some great bands.

What are u talking about? No one is gonna be added. The lineup is complete. What makes you think that any other band would be added? Just b/c there was so much talk about it?

Yeah maybe they will be added to the pre-party. :Smokin:

Seriously to those people talking about the money issue... You are paying $80 to see 10 bands... not very much if you ask me. You can't compare what BG or GR got to play the festival, to what other bands might be asking for. Every band and their management have their price. One band has nothing to do with the other. One band might be more then happy to play for the "offered" price, while another band might be tight and asking a lot more which might mean that Glenn has to look for other options. Please dont even bother talking about the money issue if you dont have any clue what a band asks for.

Honestly, I was quite disappointed about the lineup when I saw it for the first time. On a second thought, IT RULES!! I mean, Glenn's been doing a great job with ProgPower, and this year's gonna be as great as the others.. I think before we complain about ANYTHING we should thank Glenn for his work. He deserves our presence there more than any band playing cuz he is the one that was responsible for the great times we had at PP3, PP2 and PP1 ! GLENN, YOU RULE!!!! And lets have a good time at PP 4!!!!!

You know, I am getting a bit tickedseeing all the negative comments about this. Now, I know they are not the majority but if you want to spew and whine about the bands, simply don't go. I guarantee this year will sell out again. NOWHERE will you find in the USA this caliber of lineup presented at as high a quality setting as Earthlink Live, NOWHERE. Glenn puts up mega bucks to make this happen, I'm talking 50+ grand. So, legal, if you want to complain about everything, simply don't go, gather up 50 grand and start a fest. Only when you are actually involved setting these things up in the slightest can you appreciate the time (LOTS of time) and headaches these things are to pull off, and pull off in TOP form to boot. I can tell you a lot of the bands in this thread WERE considered and approached and for whatever reasons just simply did not work out. The bands will never appeal to 100% of Metalheads out there, but it's funny how the ones that don't like all the bands are so quick to start spewing their venom. Glenn gets the MEGA BALLS award for even doing something like this for the USA crowd in my opinion, I can't say I would be willing to risk so much.
